Kano State government employed over 100 doctors and nurses from Egypt to work in hospitals across the state.
The association said the state government’s action was the highest form of insensitivity especially to the plight of doctors working under its employ and the condition of the health sector in general.
“The state government has failed to pay all the contract doctors under its employment the agreed 15 per cent addition since its inception, but it is now ready to pay ten times that amount to Egyptian doctors.
“We call on the medical and dental council to monitor this situation as there have been many instances in the past where foreign health personnel, who are not medically qualified have been employed to work as medical doctors,” the association stated.
It was gathered that the Egyptian doctors are to be paid a monthly salary of US$6000 (equivalent of N972,000)
